Batesville, Arkansas was expanding its Community Center and Aquatic Center in heart of the town’s Fitzhugh Park. The new facility includes expanded aquatic attractions. Of particular importance to the City of Batesville was the inclusion of an indoor water facility, which would allow visitors to swim and play in the pools year-round.
OpenAire created an inviting 21,000 square-foot enclosure with a retractable roof to house the Aquatic Center’s new indoor facilities, including an 8-lane swimming pool, splash pad, heated therapy pool and bathhouse. The custom designed 95-foot by 224-foot double-slope structure features 14 sliding doors and 20 retractable roof panels, which open quickly at the touch of a button and leave the park’s visitors amazed. In cold or inclement weather, the panels and doors shut securely to allow use of the aquatic park all year round. OpenAire’s enclosure links seamlessly with the existing community center at one end and the attractively designed bathhouse at the other. The OpenAire team’s design fits the original community center perfectly, and the result is an exciting aquatic destination that brings Batesville residents together for fitness and fun all year round.
