Saarland Therme
Kleinblittersdorf, Germany
Saarland Therme was built to promote “health tourism” utilizing the long-standing tradition of spas from the thermal waters in Rilchingen.
Saarland Therme is a spa with a total area of 4,656m2 including a wide variety of thermal baths, restaurants and spa service areas. The design of the entire complex is based on a Moorish-Oriental style.
The large thermal hall is crowned by a retractable glass roof. The roof opens in the middle and bi-parts with the two halves moving in opposite direction. As with all spaces including a retractable roof, the main hall with the open roof is a key feature in the design of the facility.
