A major expansion of the historic Bavarian Inn Lodge, one of Frankenmuth’s key landmarks, the Bavarian Blast Indoor Waterpark project dramatically expands the hotel amenities and Family Entertainment offerings. This makes the Bavarian Inn Lodge Michigan’s largest indoor water park and family entertainment center, at more than 140,000 square feet of family fun.

OpenAire is thrilled to have designed, engineered, fabricated, shipped and installed the crown jewel to this amazing project, a skylight that is 175ft wide and 287ft long with a cupola over the slide tower. The skylight sits on 32ft high concrete piers over the multi level water park and connects directly to the new family entertainment center and themed front outdoor swim zone.

Opened in 2025, this $80 million project added 20-plus new attractions, including many White Water West water slides, wave pool and an indoor outdoor adult swim up bar and pools. In addition to the massive skylight, OpenAire designed two custom glass motorized doors for the swim out pools to replace the traditional corrosion heavy steel roll up doors found in many older waterparks.
