OpenAire and Epic Water Team Win World Waterpark Association’s Leading Edge Award

OpenAire, (along with the entire Epic Waters Waterpark Team) was awarded the prestigious Leading Edge Award by the World Waterpark Association on October 24, 2018, for work done earlier in the year on the Epic Waters Waterpark project for the city of Grand Prairie, Texas. The award is given to organizations exhibiting creativity in the water attraction industry who have developed new concepts, products or services to the benefit of park members, their customers and the water attractions industry. The entire team at OpenAire is thrilled to have been recognized for their contribution – a gigantic retractable roof design.

“We’re honoured to have been included amongst such quality co-nominees,” said Dave Bolwerk, US VP, who joined the Epic Waters team to receive the award on behalf of OpenAire. “The Epic Waters Waterpark project was a huge undertaking. From consultations with the city of Grand Prairie on their vision to define the concept through to the end implementation, the project was massive. OpenAire was brought in to create a unique retractable roof system for the park. The end result is nothing short of spectacular.”>

OpenAire designed, manufactured and built a 62,000 sq ft retractable roof system combining the best of both indoor and outdoor worlds for Epic Waters. The innovative design of the retractable roof uses translucent polycarbonate panels, allowing a perfect balance of light and scenery even when the roof is closed. When open, waterpark patrons enjoy natural sunlight and fresh air on warm days with the ability to close the roof at the touch of a button anytime inclement weather threatens. The final product holds the USA record for the Largest Indoor Waterpark under a Single Retractable Roof.

For years to come, Epic Waters will be a fun-filled destination for adventure-seekers in Grand Prairie and with its unique retractable roof system, a truly well-named “epic” achievement for OpenAire.
