Callisto at The Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort & Spa
Victoria, BC

High in the mountains above Vancouver Island, with views stretching all the way to Mt. Baker, Callisto at The Westin Bear Mountain Resort & Spa has transformed what was once a seasonal outdoor patio into a true four-season dining destination — thanks to an OpenAire motorized retractable roof and enclosure system.

The design replaces fixed walls with motorized panels that drop down to become railings around the perimeter of the restaurant, opening the space completely to the surrounding forest and golf course on mild Pacific Northwest days. Overhead, a motorized retractable roof gives guests an unobstructed view of the sky and mountains, then closes at the push of a button when Vancouver Island’s coastal weather turns,  keeping diners warm, dry, and comfortable without ever losing the open, elevated feel of the space.

Built with OpenAire’s signature lightweight, corrosion-resistant aluminum frame, the enclosure is engineered to handle the region’s damp, marine climate with minimal long-term maintenance. The result is a stunning open dining room that adapts instantly to the weather, letting Callisto serve Pacific Northwest-inspired dishes under open sky in summer and full mountain views through glass in winter, proof that a great retractable roof doesn’t just extend a patio season, it redefines the whole dining experience.
