Kalahari Resorts & Indoor Water Park, Pocono Mountains, PA

The Challenge

Kalahari Resorts and Conventions sought to build their largest and grandest waterpark to date, the Kalahari Resorts Indoor Water Park in Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania. On the cusp of breaking the record for the largest waterpark in the United States, Kalahari Resorts wanted the luxury of providing their guests with sunshine and fresh air at the click of a button.

The Solution

When searching for a way to have fresh air and sunshine on warmer days and ensuring the same comfort and enjoyment in cooler or inclement weather, Kalahari Resorts and Conventions reached out to OpenAire to make their visions a reality. With a 10,800 sq. ft. custom retractable aluminum skylight, designed, manufactured, and installed by OpenAire, the Kalahari Resorts & Indoor Water Park can now easily open and close their retractable roof in accordance to the weather.

"The retractable roof allows our guests to enjoy the sun and fresh air just as if they were outside, but with the convenience of actually being inside," said Todd Nelson, owner of Kalahari Resorts and Conventions. "It started to rain [the other day], and the roof closed automatically. The guests were in awe."
