OpenAire is proud to be part of the new aquatic and community center for the City of Mountain Home, Arkansas, a cornerstone of the city’s $38 million community center project. Opened in 2026, the facility is one of a kind in the region, featuring an aquatic center with three distinct pools;  a competition pool, a wading pool, and a therapy pool, alongside a community center offering a gymnasium, basketball courts, an elevated walking track, and an outdoor splash pad.

At the heart of the aquatic center is a 95-foot by 208-foot OpenAire Double-Slope Enclosure with a top-down opening retractable roof (DS.E.TOP). The all-aluminum structure is engineered specifically for the demanding conditions of an indoor pool environment, humid, chlorinated air that causes steel and traditional materials to corrode over time. Because aluminum doesn’t rust, the enclosure requires virtually no maintenance and is built to perform reliably for decades, dramatically lowering the facility’s lifecycle costs compared to conventional construction.

The retractable roof gives Mountain Home’s Parks and Recreation team full control over the pool environment year-round. On mild Ozark days, the roof panels open to flood the space with fresh air and natural light, venting humidity and chlorine off-gassing while giving swimmers a true outdoor experience. When the weather turns cold, wet, or extreme, the roof closes at the push of a button, sealing the space into a fully protected, climate-controlled natatorium,  keeping the competition, wading, and therapy pools open and usable no matter the forecast.
