The Joneses Restaurant (formerly Pick 6ix)

At the corner of Yonge and Wellington in the heart of downtown Toronto sits a restaurant with a legendary past. Before it became The Joneses, a mid-century modern American steakhouse from Oliver & Bonacini Hospitality,  this space made headlines as Pick 6ix, the restaurant and sports lounge launched by hip-hop superstar Drake and his OVO brand in 2018.

When Pick 6ix opened, its standout feature was a 2,100-square-foot OpenAire glass enclosure built into the building’s open-concept patio. The design included five motorized drop-down windows, each 12.5 feet by 4 feet, that retract at the touch of a button to transform the space between fully sheltered and completely open-air. On warm nights, the windows disappear and guests get an authentic outdoor patio experience right in the middle of the city. When the weather turns, the panels glide back into place in seconds, keeping the space warm, dry, and just as inviting.

That same enclosure, engineered with a lightweight, corrosion-resistant aluminum frame built to withstand Toronto’s harsh winters and humid summers alike — effectively doubled the venue’s usable seating capacity, giving it year-round patio space instead of a strictly seasonal one.

Today, as The Joneses continues to draw crowds with its retro charm and elevated menu, the same OpenAire enclosure that helped make Pick 6ix one of Toronto’s most talked-about openings is still doing exactly what it was designed to do: letting one of downtown Toronto’s most iconic corners flex between indoors and out, whatever the forecast.
