OpenAire’s newest YMCA project is in Upland California. Part of the West End YMCA Group, the Scheu Family YMCA of Upland is the newest Y location to undergo a transformation!

The Scheu Family Y features a workout floor, basketball gymnasium, indoor soccer field, studios for classes, locker rooms, volleyball courts, Kid Zone, Y Cafe, Cardiac Zone, Teen Center and the new Aquatics Center! The existing seasonal outdoor pool was enclosed to ensure that families using the facilities would have access to swimming year round.

The new aquatic center is a retractable roof enclosure that is 122’ x 101’ and includes 16 retractable roof panels and opening doors on all three of the side glass walls. The new enclosure which opens up on one side to the adjacent basketball court, is connected to the existing YMCA structure on one end.

This project is a great example of an existing outdoor pool that was changed to an indoor pool. See the before and after in the gallery below.
