The 5 Most Thrilling Water Park Slides in the USA
We love that heart-stopping, adrenaline-pumping combination of rushing water and roller coaster speed! And, we certainly have enough options, with hundreds of water parks to choose from across North America. With so many choices, we set out to discover which ones are the absolute musts. Below are the answers – we present to you the five most thrilling water park slides in the USA.
- The Black Anaconda, Noah’s Ark, Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
This black-covered, quarter-mile long water coaster reaches speeds of up to 30mph. The Black Anaconda is the longest water coaster in America and it isn’t just a slide either; among its twisting coils are high-pressure water jets that push you upwards on ascending sections, only to let gravity take you down again after the next bend.
- Wildebeest, Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari, Santa Claus, Indiana
Named the best waterslide in America by Amusement Today for four years running, this is also the longest slide in the country, at about a third of a mile. The slide is filled with drops, twists, bends, and lifts and provides a thrilling and unpredictable experience.
- Bomb Bay, Wet ‘n Wild, Orlando, Florida
The Bomb Bay is a freefall slide that starts with the rider positioned on a trap door. When the trapdoor opens, the rider falls 75 feet down a nearly vertical slide. It’s terror all the way down! But, on the bright side, it’s over pretty quickly!
- Summit Plummet, Blizzard Beach, Buena Vista, Florida
The Summit Plummet is another near-vertical drop, this time from a height of 120 feet. Before you reach the bottom, you can easily reach speeds of around 60 mph.
- Scorpion’s Tail, Noah’s Ark water park, Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
The start of this ride is very much like that of the Wildebeest. The trapdoor opens and you drop nearly vertically. It then becomes a very different experience, however, as you are whipped upwards and around in a loop.
We’ve probably missed out many great rides from this list and it would be interesting to know which other ones are in the running.
