7 Great Annual Events Hosted by YMCAs

Not sure how to spend Labor Day or Thanksgiving this year? Looking for activities to keep the kids busy during the holiday break and the summer holidays? One or more of the annual events at your local YMCA should give you some ideas to fill your calendar.

Family Camp Memorial Day Weekend

Families around the country celebrate the long weekend with camping trips to some of the most attractive wilderness sites around.

Healthy Aging and Healthy Kids Days

Held in May and April respectively, these events aim to teach and inspire children and seniors to live healthy lifestyles. They offer exercise classes that teach healthy habits, encourage active play and inspire a love for physical activity.

Lakefront Music Fes

Every July, YMCAs in the Twin Cities host this music festival at Lakefront Park, Prior Lake. Headline acts this year include Styx and Lady Antebellum.

The Gold Wishes Gal

This event, originally hosted by the YMCA and now having grown so much bigger, “celebrates seniors and their impactful lifelong contribution to the community.”

Labor Day Weekend Camp Activities

Much like the Memorial Weekend activities, this long weekend offers families a chance to get away from it all with traditional camp activities.

Trunk or Treat – Halloween and Harvest celebrations

YMCAs aim to provide a safe and fun way for children and families to trick or treat in the community. In addition to the trunk or treat, there are games, crafts, pumpkins in the pool, a costume contest, and more

Christmas Holiday Break Activities

YMCAs around the country always offer a variety of events to get both children and adults into the holiday spirit.
