Epic Waters: A Blueprint for Integrated, Sustainable Recreation

A live summary of our very own Nancy Patterson’s conversation with American Resort Management CEO, Richard Coleman, from the Greenloop 2025 event is now live!
Located in Grand Prairie, Texas, Epic Waters sits at the heart of the city-led Epic Central campus—a 90-acre destination designed to deliver long-term community benefits. The $90 million project marries a 70,000 ft² indoor water park topped by OpenAire’s innovative retractable-roof structure (36 motorized bays) with a 120,000 ft² recreation centre, inclusive outdoor playground, wave pool, hotels, dining, and cultural event spaces . Strategically priced to ensure affordability without compromising profitability, it provides year-round revenue that supports job creation, educational programming, accessibility initiatives, and environmental stewardship. Epic Waters exemplifies how public-private collaborations can align with UN Sustainable Development Goals—creating financially sustainable, socially inclusive, and environmentally conscious destinations.
The success of Epic Waters means that it has inspired multiple NEW locations in communities around the USA. Notably Bellevue Bay Indoor Waterpark, in Bellevue Nebraska and Bradely Indoor Waterpark, in Bradely Illinois. Both of whom have started designing and building their own EPIC destinations, opening in the next two years!
