Structural Steel/Miscellaneous Metals Detailer

We have an immediate need for a Miscellaneous Metals/Aluminum Detailer to complement our growing team. This is a full time position offering a competitive compensation package, an exciting, fast paced environment, in house training and support, and the opportunity to grow and advance.

Working with our Design and Engineering Team, you will be responsible for the design and coordination of custom, high-end, retractable roofing systems and skylights for global OpenAire Customers. Your two to five years experience in detailing structural steel/miscellaneous metals, with an orientation towards architectural custom elements/features, and your experience working in a similar custom fabrication environment, makes you an ideal candidate.

Your post secondary education in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Civil engineering or Structural Steel Detailing, along with your experience with AutoCAD 3D Modelling will enable you to assist in providing 3D concept drawings for customer discussion. Working in Advance Steel, REVIT and AutoCAD 3D Modeling, you will create detailed architectural shop drawings based upon your initial concept, project contract along with communications with customers, architects and general contractors.

You will prepare fabrication “cut” sheets for use by our Manufacturing Team. You will work with OpenAire’s installation team providing design information to ensure effective installation of projects.

We utilize Autodesk Advance Steel as our base design and drafting software. Knowledge of Autodesk Advance Steel is preferred. At a minimum you will have working knowledge and experience using a similar software such as Tekla Structures or SDS2.

In your role as Structural Steel/Miscellaneous Metals Detailer you will be an integral part of the design and engineering team and work closely with sales, manufacturing and install segments of this business and contribute to our continued success.

Attention to detail is a critical skill requirement. Knowledge of Revit Structures is an asset. Knowledge of Structural Steel Design is an asset. This is an IN-OFFICE position.
