Mill Valley Community Center, Mill Valley, CA

The Challenge

The community center was designed to blend in with its residential neighbourhood. The look was intended to be low key and historically relevant to appease community members concerns about the look of the new center. Yet it had to be open and bright to attract users.

OpenAire was selected to provide an operable skylight that blends perfectly with the structure surrounding it.

The Solution

The Mill Valley Community Center has won a prestigious Facility of Merit Award for 2002, from Athletic Business magazine.

Technical Information

The skylight is glazed with 1″ (25mm) polycarbonate in 6 bays with 12 operable roof panels. OpenAire’s thermally broken aluminum frame sits on the building’s steel super-structure. The skylight measures 59’x50′.
